If we brush after breakfast, we have to wait 20 to 30 minutes after eating to allow remineralization to occur and the pH of the oral cavity to return to normal otherwise we will be brushing away demineralized enamel that will be lost forever We are not trying to remove all dental plaque or kill all dental bacteria. We are simply disrupting its growth and maturation. If our toothpaste does not have fluoride in it, it is not proven by the preponderance of evidence to be beneficial in lowering our risk of decay.
